PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A late-night shooting in Pottstown left three people injured after what neighbors describe as a teenage birthday party that spiraled out of control.

Viewer video showed a chaotic scene unfolding around 11:30 p.m. Thursday on the 100 block of North Warren Street in Montgomery County.

"There's a bunch of kids out here having a birthday party, and next thing you know, a car came through and started shooting, and everybody started scattering," said David Bird, a resident who witnessed the violence unfold just steps from his home.

Authorities confirm one victim was shot in the leg. A second person was discovered in a nearby alley with a gunshot wound to the ankle. A third individual was also injured, although details on their condition have not been released.

Bird told Action News the crowd quickly descended into chaos.

"People who got shot, some people dragged them, trying to hide them. And once they saw the cops, some people let the people who got shot go and ran off. So they left their friends behind. Sickening, it is," he said.

He also noted that cars kept arriving before the gunfire erupted.

"Cars kept coming, cars kept coming, and coming and coming. Then shots rang out. Then they all ran off," Bird recalled.

What concerns Bird most is the lack of adult supervision at the party.

"Yeah, they're just trying to have fun, but at the end of the day, they should have parents there, since they're teenagers and it's late at night on a Thursday," he said.

Now, the longtime resident says he's worried about the safety of neighborhood children.

"Thing about this block, it's got a lot of kids. A lot of neighborhood kids come around and play. Now we gotta keep our eye out," said Bird.

Police have not released information about suspects or a possible motive. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Pottstown police.
